from the command center set up to find him. >>> former congressman jesse jackson jr. and his wife could be headed to prison. they've both been officially charged in connection with the misuse of campaign funds. on friday, federal prosecutors formally filed charges as jackson is said to be accepting a plea deal. they claim jackson misused $750,000 in campaign funds to buy personal items like michael jackson and martin luther king memorabilia. jackson is reportedly going to accept a plea deal. his wife, sandy, faces one count of tax fraud. >>> facebook says it's been hacked. the social media giant says its systems were targeted in a sophisticated attack after employees visited an infected site which installed a malware and bug on their computers. facebook says none of its millions of users' information was compromised. >>> in sports news, serena williams is making history, becoming the oldest woman ever to claim the highest spot in women's tennis. she clinched that top-ranked title on friday with a quarterfinal win at the qatar open. claiming the oldest woman ever title. she's only 31. >>

for the south bay. north 280 and south 680 from jackson and king street continuing past the interchange. metering lights turned on this morning. a baker's dozen changing the flow of traffic. that's intent for 280 but also on surface streets and that includes onramp from north 87 to north 280. that may be a problem for downtown. we'll track that. a lot of schools also on vacation this week or next week alternating for winter breaks. we'll track and see how traffic adjusts over the next two weeks. meanwhile, over through the tri-valley, smooth flow of traffic. slowing out of altamont pass coming into livermore. no problem here through the dublin interchange south through pleasanton for 680 into sunol. live look outside shows you emeryville area. the maze a smooth drive toward the bay bridge toll plaza and of course the north bay very easy drive as well. back to you. >>> 5:16. tight budgets reignited a debate on the campus of california's flagship university. some at uc berkeley are crying foul saying as academics pays, the athletic program has little accountability. the investigative unit

surrounded by chain link and concreted boarded by 6th, 7th, taylor and jackson street. this site used to be vibrant. it was home to chinatown. in '08 we were here when archaeologist excavated the site for after trtifacts. later today the city could take the first step toward bringing the space back to life when council members decide whether or not to approve basic redevelopment plans for the site and give the go-ahead to continue talks with the developer. that developer would pay the city if they come to an agreement $24 million for this parcel and on it would build six-story apartment buildings housing 600 units and retail space, green space for events like farmer's market and a new creative center for the arts. >> this is a very special place. this is one of the three surviving japantowns in the state of california. we know we have to get this right and it has to be right and not just for the developer or for the city coffers but it has to be right by the community. >> reporter: the city wanted this to happen years ago. we're talking about 2007, 2008. they seemed to have an agreeme

on 280 and getting on 680 south at jackson or king, all of those onramps. 13 of them extending toward baskum. metering lights will be switched on between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. to help meter traffic on 280 making things easier for the flow on the freeway including connector from north 87 to north 280 in downtown freeway to freeway connector with metering lights now on as well. that will disrupt flow on the freeway and through downtown. we'll track that very heavy volume expected for this tuesday as is typical for tuesday. live looks outside show you how things are as far as volume at the bay bridge with those metering lights now on. backup building quickly past the end of the parking lot and coming down the east shore freeway westbound traffic. i saw flashing lights travel eastbound with taillights. i'll track down what else is going on in berkeley or richmond. back to you. >>> coming up, the giants get a spring in their step. >> we want to come into this year and try to do the exact same thing and what we did last year is over with. >> wait until we tell you what giants are already
